SSC Junior Engineer 2017 Recruitment
Every year the exam is conducted by staff selection commission for various posts under the junior engineer. These posts vary according to the requirement and availability of posts in the various department. SSC JE 2017 Vacancy Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria are fixed by the staff selection commission and there is no change in the criteria. The criteria are made by the Staff selection commission in coordination with other departments. The eligibility criteria vary with the type of posts and opening in the department. It is directly related to the branch of the entrance you choose. Though more or less the eligibility is same for all branches. The specific eligibility criteria for different branches are-
Junior Engineer (Civil): CPWD – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute
- Junior Engineer (Electrical): CPWD – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
- Junior Engineer (Civil & Mechanical): Central Water Commission – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Civil/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
- Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical): MES – B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering OR 3 years Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute and with 2 years work experience in electrical/mechanical engineering works.
- Junior Engineer (QS&C): MES – B.E. / B.Tech. / 3 years Diploma in Civil engineering from a recognized University/Institute OR Passed an Intermediate examination in Building and Quantity Surveying (Sub Divisional-II) from the Institute of Surveyors (India).
SSC JE Age Limit
Dear aspirants, the age limit for this examination is a minimum of 18 years and the maximum age limit varies for different departments. The maximum age limit can vary to at most to 32 years. The age limit is subject to vacancies. Age relaxation is also provided to the candidates under their respective reserve categories. For CPWD and central water works the maximum age is 32 years. For a junior engineer to be recruited to MES (military engineering services ) the maximum age is 30 years. For the post of surveying and contract the maximum age is 27 years
SSC JE Exam Syllabus & Pattern
The SSC JE examination occurs in two stages with two papers. The paper one is a computer-based test of 200 marks which comprises of three parts. The part A consists of General Reasoning and general awareness. Part B consists of General Engineering for civil and structural, electrical and mechanical.
The part two of the exam is pen and paper-based test of 300 marks. In this paper, the candidate has to write the General Engineering section depending upon the type of branch he/she belongs. The paper consists of General Engineering in civil and structural, mechanical and electrical.

SSC JE Selection procedure
The candidate appearing in the SSC JE examination has to be well versed in his core subject with the basic knowledge of all branches. The candidate should also be aware of general incidents happening around him, in the world. He should be prepared for reasoning and general aptitude questions. Those candidates who will score the minimum cut off marks in these two papers will be selected.
